OTPN Player Of The Week | 28th November – 4th December

Premier League

Duncan Watmore – Sunderland

The Sunderland ace’s stock is ever increasing and a fine finish against Stoke added to his burgeoning reputation. The striker showed great pace to get away from his marker before drilling past Jack Butland into the bottom corner. After gaining Degree in Economics with Management from Newcastle University, Watmore’s manager Sam Allardyce has now called on him to gain his ‘Masters in Premier League football.’


Jonson Clarke-Harris – Rotherham United

The 21-year-old forward showed terrific form against last weekend bagging an accomplished brace to help Rotherham to a good win against Bristol City. In addition to scoring a penalty, Clarke-Harris first strike was arguably one of the goals of the weekend, cutting in powerfully from the right flank before unleashing a curler into the bottom corner.

League One

Milan Lalkovic – Walsall

It’s been a good week for the former Chelsea man, scoring two goals in two games against Bradford and Shrewsbury. The Slovakian is coming into form at the right time as Walsall aim to maintain their promotion push.

Oli McBurnie – Newport County (On-loan from Swansea City)

What a way to mark your debut!

The 19 year old Swansea loanee made the best of impacts at Rodney Parade with a quick fire treble after coming off the bench. Tall, strong and possessing terrific movement, this striker has a big future in the game.

Barclays U21 Premier League

Jamar Loza – Norwich City

On a memorable night fot the Canaries youngster, Jamar Loza hit FIVE against a strong Norwich side at Carrow Road, helping his side to a spectacular 7-2 win. His best goal was his first, cutting inside onto his right foot before smashing a right-footed drive into the top corner.

U21 Professional Development League

Callum Saunders – Crewe Alexandra

Callum, son of former Liverpool striker Dean, proved that the predatory instincts in front of goal run in the family. Callum’s clever finishes either side of half time helped his side to a good 2-0 win away at Leeds United.

Final Third Development League

James Caton – Wrexham

Wrexham are purring at the moment, and in James Caton they have a player who is capable of playing at a higher level. The former Blackpool and Shrewsbury man was an impressive figure against a strong Wigan side, scoring with a long-range strike early on.

Barclays U18 Premier League

Nicusor Carnat – Wolves

In what was the performance of the week, Wolves romped to an EIGHT goal win away at Everton. Integral to the performance was Romanian Nicu Carnat who weighed in with an impressive hat-trick.

U18 Professional Development League

Ben Bereton – Nottingham Forest

Ben Bereton has been on fire this season, and last weekend the striker notched home his 17th and 18th goals of the season against Bolton Wanderers. It’s testament to the great work that Forest are doing as yet another striker is producing the goods at youth level. A club that’s committed to giving youth a chance, will Bereton be the next to come off the Forest production line?

Football League Youth Alliance

Frank Rosenwald – Exeter City

Rosenwald flourished in a positive performance by the young Grecians, scoring a beauty against Cheltenham Town. After picking the ball up on the left hand side, the striker cut inside and whipped a wonderful effort into the far corner.
